The Hefty Lefty Story 

Hefty Lefty’s Hoagies and Grinders was established in 2018 at one of the true treasures of York: the Historic Central Market.  This was a dream come true! Hefty Lefty’s is a true family business.  Only through the love and dedication of three generations working together were we able to not only survive but actually thrive through some of the toughest times ever for a small business. In 2021, we moved into a cafe inside the Market and expanded our menu to include cheesesteaks and fresh cut fries. We now have our own seating area and you can even get your sandwiches delivered. In 2024, we opened a second location inside Franklin Street Social in Red Lion. Franklin Street Social is York County’s first food hall. The response to our sandwiches from the York Community has been overwhelming. We are blessed to have so many wonderful people as customers and now friends.

My husband and I were there for the first time yesterday. He got the Kitchen Sink and I got the Philly. Both were hands down some of the best subs either of us have ever had. So much meat and cheese. It was delicious! Great quality and kind workers. We will definitely be back! Suggestion- get it to go and eat it outside in the dining area.

What Makes Us Special?

It has to be perfect! No detail is too small!

Every great sandwich starts with the roll.  Our rolls are delivered everyday from Corropolese Italian Bakery. This bakery has been recognized as one of the best of Philly many times.  We use only the finest meats and cheeses from brands like Citterio, Thumanns, Bel Giosso and Grande Cheese.  Our cheesesteaks are made with thin sliced ribeye which is cut daily in house.  Every week includes a trip to our local farmers market to secure only the freshest produce. We are up early to prep these ingredients fresh every day.  The payoff comes when we combine all of these ingredients in our unique tuck and roll combination to create one of the most unique sandwiches you will ever eat!
